Austrian writer-director Marie Kreutzer brings to the silver display the experiences of the Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary Elisabeth Amalie Eugenie (1837-1898) as her fortieth birthday approaches.
Performed by Vicky Krieps, greatest recognized for her efficiency in Paul Thomas Anderson’s vogue drama “The Phantom Thread,” the Empress is thrown into turmoil as she waits to be seen as an outdated girl.
Confronted with a way forward for strict ceremonies and royal duties, the girl rebels towards her public picture and hatches a plan to guard her legacy.
