Langley Rams new head coach is no stranger to the team

A well-known identify to Langley Rams followers and gamers, quarterback Jordan McCarty, who led the Langley workforce to the Canada Bowl sport in 2014, will take over as head coach in 2023.

McCarty has been the Rams quarterback coach for the previous three seasons and assisted of their 2021 Canadian Bowl championship win.

Following his 2014 Canadian Bowl look, McCarty returned to his commencement college, Blaine Excessive, as quarterback coach and transition coordinator.

He then labored as a purchaser’s coach and recruiter within the SFU program on the NCAA earlier than returning to the Rams.

McCarty took over from Cory Philpot, who led the Rams to their 2021 Canadian Bowl win.

Philpot goes to Simon Fraser College as a recruiter for the Simon Fraser Crimson Leafs soccer workforce, which performs within the NCAA Division II and is the one Canadian college affiliated with the US-based Nationwide Collegiate Athletic Affiliation.

Earlier head coach Howie Zaron was ineligible as he was suspended in 2020 after being charged with a drug offense, though he was later discovered not responsible.

In July, Zaron posted a league message to his Fb web page saying the teaching ban would stay in impact for “not complying” with restrictions after he was accused of possession for the aim of smuggling.

“Moreover, the CJFL fines Langley Rams $3,000 for failing to adjust to the said restrictions,” the message continued.

The alleged violations included Zaron touring to the Canadian Bowl with the Rams workforce “whereas there have been “many different flights to take”.

“There was further info that Mr. Zaron had gone to Langley Ram. [sic] Occasions, particularly the final Langley Rams golf match,” he continued.

“All of this was executed with the information, consent and/or assist of Langley Rams and in opposition to beforehand agreed phrases.”

Zaron’s response: “I used to be on a public aircraft with 300 folks, not simply the workforce,” and he joined the golf match “as a fan”.
